One of the features of global Shakespeare throughout history is the proliferation of transcultural adaptations around the world. This panel seeks to shed light on these adaptations across languages, cultures, religions, and even platforms (theatre, TV, cinema, videogames, social media, and other forms of pop culture). Proposals are invited for presentations on aspects of transcultural adaptations of Shakespeare.
Papers that cross disciplinary and/or national boundaries are especially welcome.
Topics include but are not limited to:
*Shakespeare and pop culture
*Non-English adaptations of Shakespeare
*Shakespeare and Islam
*Shakespeare in Africa
*Shakespeare in Asia
*Shakespeare in Latin America
*Shakespeare in the Arab World
Please send proposals (max. 150 words) to Madiha Hannachi [firstname.lastname@example.org] by 20 May 2016.
