The War of the Arts (with thanks to David Jackson for the title)

Renaissance artists often debated the merits of their respective arts, asking which best represents reality. Which is more imaginative? Which is more beneficial? How do the arts relate to one another? Papers on all aspects of these theoretical debates as they were argued during the Renaissance.

Please send a single page with both an abstract of less than 150 words and a brief curriculum vitae to both Susan Byrne (susan.byrne[at] and David A. Boruchoff (david.boruchoff[at] See the guidelines for CVs on the RSA’s annual meeting page.
