English Encounters with the Americas, 1550-1610 is a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminar for College Professors (up to two full-time graduate students in the humanities may also be accepted to the seminar) to be held July 5-29, 2011 at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  This seminar will consider primary sources on Anglo-American contact in these early decades through an interdisciplinary lens, using evidence and methods from several different disciplines. Sixteen applicants will be chosen to participate. Participants will receive a $3,300 stipend to help defray the costs of travel, housing and meals. The deadline for applying is March 1, 2011.
