Vasari/500: Envisioning New Directions in Vasari Studies Symposium Thursday, October 27, 2011, 6–7:30pm
Friday, October 28, 2011, 9am–7:30pm
Saturday, October 29, 2011, 9am–7:30pm
No individual
has had a greater impact on early modern art and its historiography than
Giorgio Vasari—courtier and architect to Duke Cosimo de’Medici, founder
of the Florentine Accademia, and renowned author of Lives of the Artists. On the quincentennial anniversary of his birth, Vasari/500
will bring together an international group of scholars to reassess the
Tuscan artist’s central role in charting histories of the Renaissance.
