Tour of the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, plus a tour of the Textile Conservation Lab

Thursday, March 27, 1:00-3:00 PM

The unfinished Cathedral of St. John the Divine—the largest Cathedral in the world—was built in the European tradition of stone-on-stone construction. The Cathedral is especially renowned for its collection of tapestries, which includes the seventeenth-century Barberini tapestry set and the seventeenth-century Acts of the Apostles series derived from Raphael’s sixteenth-century tapestry cartoons for the Sistine Chapel. This "Vertical Tour” features historical, architectural, and artistic highlights, plus a trip to the top of the Cathedral with its spectacular views. The tour will also include a visit to the renowned Textile Conservation Laboratory with lab Director Marlene Eidelheit. The Cathedral is in the Morningside Heights neighborhood, near Columbia University.

Cost: $10 due at the time of the tour

Limit: 20 participants

Please note that due to the limited number of tour tickets, conference attendees may register for only one of the tours offered at the 2014 New York Annual Meeting.
