Call for Applications: Doctoral Research Fellow, The Legacy of Birgitta of Sweden. Univ. of Oslo

A Doctoral Research Fellowship (SKO 1017) in History of Ideas is available at the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas, University of Oslo.

A PhD position is available associated with the research project The Legacy of Birgitta of Sweden. Women, Politics, and Reform in Renaissance Italy. The project is organized into four subprojects, which investigate the legacy of Birgitta of Sweden’s extensive literary production and its possible impact on female writers and intellectuals in Renaissance Italy (1400–1650). A series of internationally acclaimed scholars participate in the project, and the PhD student is expected to join the project’s core group of researchers. The candidate should have an interest in at least one of the four subprojects, and will be supervised by the project manager.

The person appointed will be affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities organized research training. The academic work is to result in a doctoral thesis that will be defended in the Faculty of Humanities with a view to obtaining the degree of PhD. The successful candidate is expected to join the existing research group and contribute to its development. Read more about the doctoral degree.

The appointment is for a duration of three years. All PhD candidates who submit their doctoral dissertation for assessment with a written recommendation from their supervisor within 3 years or 3 ½ years after the start of their PhD position, will be offered, respectively, a 12 or 6 month Completion Grant.
