French Paleography Mellon Summer Institute at the Newberry Library, Chicago

4-week institute: July 2-26

This course will examine French manuscripts and archival materials from the 13th to the 17th centuries.Students will become familiar with the development of handwriting as well as further aspects of written communication in the late medieval and early modern period. Limited enrollment by competitive application; successful participants receive a stipend and reimbursement to a set limit for travel and living expenses.
