Now open, the Cleveland Museum of Art's free special exhibition Medieval Monsters: Terrors, Aliens, Wonders — the first show of its kind in North America — explores the complex social role of monsters in the Middle Ages. In this blog post, Fear of the Unknown: Monsters and Othering, Jenn DePrizio, CMA’s Director of Interpretation, discusses how monsters were used to inspire fear of the unknown during medieval times.

Additionally, learn about how the CMA's Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Armor Court came to be courtesy of Amanda Mikolic, Curatorial Assistant, Medieval Art in our blog post, 105 Years in the Making: Building the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Armor Court.
