UCSC Tenure-track Assistant Professorship

The History of Art and Visual Culture Department ( at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for the tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Europe in the Age of Colonialism and Resistance, 1500-1950.

Across the centuries, European nations colonized much of the globe, impacting indigenous traditions and also changing European culture in fundamental ways. We seek a scholar whose research considers some aspect of Europe’s colonial agenda and its consequences, examining European art, architecture, and/or visual culture in ways that complicate the picture of European expansion and challenge the so-called Western episteme from a global perspective.
