Planned Giving

The Renaissance Society of America is a not-for-profit tax-exempt membership organization incorporated in the State of New York to promote study of the period 1300–1700. Our fellowships and travel grants programs have grown in recent years thanks to Annual Fund donations. As we look to ensuring that support for research in Renaissance studies remains robust well into the future, the Society aims to establish more endowed fellowships and grants that will be funded in perpetuity. Your planned gift can help contribute to the RSA’s endowment or create a new fund that supports Renaissance studies scholarship.

Planned giving may include a bequest to the RSA in your will, making the Society a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, transferring real estate or stocks, or other deferred contributions. One of the simplest and most common forms of planned giving is a bequest, which leaves cash or a percentage of one’s estate to a designated tax-exempt organization. You can make a gift that will cost you nothing in your lifetime by simply including the RSA in your will.

The RSA, a 501(c)(3) organization, recognizes major gifts that endow fellowships and grants by offering naming rights to donors; past campaigns have recognized donors, beloved mentors, legendary figures in the field of Renaissance studies, and anonymous contributors. A gift of $100,000 would endow an annual short-term fellowship while a gift of $20,000 would endow an Annual Meeting travel grant. The RSA also seeks gifts that would endow new prizes and lectures.
