Philadelphia to Dublin 2021 Submission Rollover

Thank you for your patience and support during these most extraordinary times. The Renaissance Society of America has finalized the procedures for rolling over sessions/papers from the 2020 Philadelphia conference to the 2021 Annual Meeting in Dublin. In establishing these guidelines, we aim to be as flexible as possible while maintaining the quality and integrity of the scholarship presented at our conference. If you are not interested in rolling over your paper/panel, you need not do anything. However, those members who wish to participate should review the following information and then submit the Rollover Request form.

The program for the cancelled Philadelphia 2020 Annual Meeting is available online

General Procedures:

  • Rollovers must be requested; they are not automatic.
  • Please submit your rollover request by August 15, 2020.
  • Submissions rolled over from Philadelphia will remain editable/accessible within the Dublin 2021 submission portal until August 15, 2020.
  • Minor changes to abstracts/titles for rollovers will be permitted. However, individuals/panels who wish to institute major changes (e.g., change of topic in its entirety, adding multiple new speakers, changing format from panel to roundtable) must submit a new proposal as part of the Dublin CFP.
  • Standard individual submission limits apply; members with a paper presentation rolled over from Philadelphia to Dublin will not be allowed to submit an additional new abstract.
  • All scheduled presentations, including panels, roundtables, lightning talks, and seminars, are eligible for rollover.

Individual Paper Submissions:

  • Individuals who submitted an independent paper abstract will be allowed to present their Philadelphia paper in Dublin. These papers will be organized into new panels by the RSA.
  • Individual paper submitters who wish to present their Philadelphia paper to Dublin should submit the rollover request form before 15 August 2020.
  • Submitters will have the opportunity to make minor edits to their paper title and abstract from within the Dublin 2021 submission portal prior to the general deadline.

Single Session Submissions:

  • The original organizer(s) of the session should submit the rollover request form before 15 August 2020.
  • In order for a panel to roll over to Dublin, the majority of the Philadelphia panel must remain intact.
  • The majority of the presenters must remain the same.
  • For panels with three speakers, at least two of the Philadelphia speakers must be continuing.
  • We cannot roll over a panel with only one remaining speaker. If that panelist wishes to present the same paper in Dublin, their paper will be treated as an individual submission and organized into a new panel by the RSA.

Multi-Session Submissions:

  • The original organizer(s) of the sessions should submit the rollover request form before 15 August 2020.
  • In the event that some of the participates are not interested in or unable to participate in the rollover, the organizers must reconfigure their panels so that each session meets the standard RSA criteria (3 or 4 speakers per panel).

Sessions Sponsored by Associate Organizations and Discipline Representatives:

  • Philadelphia rollovers will not be counted against your allocations for the Dublin conference.
  • AOs and DRs may also opt to have their Philadelphia rollovers serve as their entire participation in the Dublin conference.

If you have questions about your specific panel/paper, please email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
